A covered pergola adjacent to the reception office also provides a great sheltered outdoor space to gather and enjoy summer BBQs or enjoy a wood fire pizza using the outdoor pizza oven provided.

The lodge also houses the private accommodation which consists of a two bedroom home. This is closed off from the communal guest lounge and dining area via the door to the newly installed galley kitchen with added laundry space. Past the scullery, through to a hallway and here you will find a bedroom, bathroom, storage room, a good size modern living area with outdoor flow onto the first floor wrap around verandah, and stairs to the lower level bedroom.

The property has great off-street parking, good storage options with the two separate units (used currently for laundry), as well as an outdoor shed.

Omau, or "The Cape' as it's known locally is 8kms south from Carters Beach. From here you can access the Cape Foulwind Walkway, which is a spectacular coastal walkway featuring a seal colony, a lighthouse and panoramic views of mountains and coastline. Hector dolphins, orcas and on a rare occasion, blue penguins can be seen around the area.

Stunning coastal views out over the Tasman Sea, and The Steeples; an excellent country pub (The Star Tavern) next door; and a well-maintained community domain. There is beach access 5 mins walk away from the lodge and Tauranga Bay is a well-known beach for great surf.

North of Cape Foulwind, you will find a first rate 18-hole golf links course and the Westport Airport located by Carters Beach and add a further 5kms, and you will come to the township of Westport.
