My name is Juliana Sharpe. I am a local resident and have over 25years living experience in Kawerau, A picturesque town with a population of approximately 7,000 residents.

A quiet yet busy small town, Kawerau is a relaxed 30 minute drive to Whakatane or 45minutes to Rotorua. A popular tourist attraction is the Tarawera falls, a spectacular waterfall formed by volcanic rock which is believed to be over 11,000years old sitting some 65metres high. So popular it receives anything from 4,000 - 6,000 visitors per annum from people all around the globe.

Although Kawerau temperatures can get as little as -2 degrees in Winter, our summer days are some of the hottest you'll find in New Zealand, often achieving the national high wih 31-32 degrees.

The Kawerau District Council and residents have many programmes, activites and Groups available for it's residents with such things as the  Lions Club and Rotary Club and Senior Net. For more information, please follow the links provided.

We have some of the countires most affordable housing here in Kawerau, many priced at or around $100,000. With some well below (may require work), it really is one of the "cheapest" towns to live.
