After graduating from Otago University in 1993, Russell enjoyed a successful career in the Information and Telecommunications industry where he spent 22 years in various roles spanning numerous cities including Auckland, Sydney, Dublin and London before returning to Christchurch in 2008. During this time Russell proved himself a very capable Project Manager (PRINCE2 certified) who has spent years honing his skills managing complex IT projects.

Russell is a consummate professional who embraces each new challenge with enthusiasm and pragmatism. He is an effective communicator as well as a skilled negotiator who strives to create a win-win in every situation.

Following the earthquakes, Russell jumped at the opportunity to work for one of the major Project Management Offices in the capacity of Performance and Planning Manager. It was in this role that Russell was inspired to seek a career change and looked for a role that would allow him to better utilise his interpersonal skills and where his efforts would have a direct impact on the ongoing rejuvenation of Canterbury.
